Generator Replacement

Pacific Hospital of Long Beach was in need of system upgrades in order to support the future growth of the hospital. Due to its proximity to an elementary school, this generator replacement project represents one of the first generator projects constructed with a catalytic converter. The project involved the abandonment of a SPC-1 generator structure and the installation of two new 750 KW exterior diesel generators, paralleling switch gear and two automatic transfer switches and a new generator yard enclosure. This provides the hospital with a superior emergency power system – The system has the ability to serve the entire hospital as well as full redundancy for the three-branch emergency electrical system. A temporary generator system was in place during construction to ensure the facility was never without power.
