Roselyn Schwichtenberg, ASID, CHID, CID, LEED AP ID+C earns Certified Healthcare Interior Designer Certificate

c|a ARCHITECTS congratulates Roselyn Schwichtenberg, ASID, CHID, CID, LEED AP ID+C for passing the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID) Examination and earning the prestigious Certified Healthcare Interior Designer Certificate. She now adds CHID to her long list of professional credentials.

Earning the CHID credential signifies that Roselyn has met the standards for education, experience and examination and is a board certified healthcare interior designer. The rigorous assessment requiring examinees to demonstrate competence in a variety of aspects that affect the healthcare interior environment. The examination covers acute care, ambulatory care/outpatient, long term care/senior living, medical facilities/other, retail/hospitality, support services, allied professions, codes and guidelines, environmental, evidence based design and professional business practice.

Roselyn graduated from FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising – Los Angeles) with an Associate Degree in Interior Design and received a Master of Health Administration from USC (University of Southern California). She has worked in the interior design field for 23 years. In her current position with c|a ARCHITECTS, she has been involved in the interior design of such projects as the Health & Wellness Pavilion at Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center and the Todd Cancer Institute Pavilion at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. She is currently crafting the interior experience at the Children’s Village at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach.

Damon Barda, AIA, LEED AP B+C promoted to
Director of Design

c|a ARCHITECTS is pleased to announce the promotion of Damon Barda, AIA, LEED AP B+C to Director of Design. Damon has 30 years of architectural design experience with 25 of those years focused on healthcare architecture. His energy, enthusiasm and experience make him the perfect leader and mentor for our innovative design team.

“c|a has an extremely strong group of healthcare architecture experts. It is a joy to be tasked with leading and mentoring our design team knowing that we have such a depth of technical knowledge to make our innovative design solutions a reality.”

Damon is excited about the work ahead, including the Children’s Village at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, a new 80,000-sq.ft. pediatric outpatient building set to break ground later this spring, and a USC research lab illustrating the concepts of Vision and Clarity to a cutting edge, open office research and teaching facility. There are exciting things ahead at c|a, and the firm is confidently poised for the future with Damon leading the design team and working with clients to create inspired and innovative healthcare experiences.

Don Schieferecke Joins c|a ARCHITECTS as Senior Project Architect

Don Schieferecke, AIA, LEED AP recently joined c|a ARCHITECTS as a Senior Project Architect. He brings over 28 years of diverse project experience that adds to the depth of the c|a team. Don’s broad portfolio includes commercial, multifamily, retail, hospitality, municipal, industrial and residential work, and also includes complex aerospace projects in Antarctica. He spent several years working on master planning projects for the McMurdo Station in Antarctica, amongst other technical and conceptual projects. No matter what the market or project niche, Don believes the key to success is a detailed understanding of the client’s goals and expectations. He is currently guiding two seismic upgrade projects through construction as well as managing the conceptual design of two other projects. He relishes every aspect of the project process and looks forward to supporting the success of c|a ARCHITECTS.

Son Ngo Joins c|a ARCHITECTS as Senior Project Architect

c|a ARCHITECTS welcomes Son Ngo. With over 20 years of experience on comprehensive healthcare and education projects, Son brings a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise to his position as a Senior Project Architect. His work throughout California gives him a deep understanding of the intricacies of dealing with OSHPD, DSA and other local agencies, experience that is a benefit to any local client and project. His healthcare expertise and deep relationships with these organizations were an asset in his role as Project Architect on the Torrance Memorial Medical Center Patient Tower. With each new project, he looks forward to delving into the design process with clients and user groups in order to help the c|a team understand the project’s unique challenges and create supportive environments. From enriching the design phase to providing the technical excellence that contributes to a successful construction process, Son is a valuable addition to the c|a team.

Rumen Eremiyski Joins c|a ARCHITECTS as Project Architect

Rumen Eremiyski, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP B+C brings over 10 years of experience to his role as a Project Architect at c|a ARCHITECTS. From owning his own firm to serving as a Licensure & LEED Mentor and BIM Council Advisor, he is a leader and tech-savvy professional who knows how to coordinate and manage a successful project, nurture young professionals and foster a collaborative team environment. With his familiarity with the design process, knowledge of building materials and components and advanced technology skills, he helps teams address design requests with quick solutions and supports informed decision-making. In fact, he has been instrumental in introducing advanced technology to support the success of many of his projects. He looks forward to using his experience and comprehensive skill set to enhance the c|a team.

Wacharapong Tumwasorn Joins c|a ARCHITECTS as Designer

Wacharapong Tumwasorn, aka Wacha, is a new addition to the design team. As an up-and-coming Designer, he looks forward to continuing to expand his knowledge and experience in healthcare architecture. Wacha received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and gained valuable work experience in the Chicago area before heading west where he has been focused on healthcare architecture in California since 2015.

Guy Jimenez, Charles Thrash Named Principals at c|a ARCHITECTS

AJ Omar Joins c|a ARCHITECTS as Senior Associate

c|a ARCHITECTS is pleased to welcome AJ Omar as Senior Associate. He brings a stellar reputation within the healthcare architecture industry, a portfolio of visionary achievements and a deep passion to accomplish even more.

“I have taken advantage of unique opportunities to expand my horizons, hone my knowledge and grow relationships within the healthcare architecture field throughout Southern California as well as nationally,” he says. “Here at c|a ARCHITECTS, I look forward to elevating my experience to new levels by growing an even larger portfolio of projects and building strong, efficient teams of talented professionals.”

A native of the Caucasus Russia, raised in Jordan and educated in Hungary, AJ graduated from the University of Miskolc with a degree in engineering design. He then continued his education with a degree in architecture here in the U.S, ultimately earning his license in architecture in 2007 and LEED certificate in 2006.

Over the years, AJ’s work led him to collaborate with some of our nation’s most recognized healthcare providers. He maintains a particular focus on sustainability, always seeking new ways to minimize the negative environmental impacts of buildings through efficiency and moderation in use of materials, energy and development space.

John Goulding Joins c|a ARCHITECTS' Team

A seasoned industry veteran who has excelled in the architecture profession for more than 25 years, John Goulding, AIA, NCARB, is a welcome addition to the c|a ARCHITECTS' team.

“I believe in a client-first approach, which means that to be as responsive and effective as possible, I spend considerable time on-site,” says John. “This allows me and the c|a ARCHITECTS' team to better understand the needs of our clients and contractors, and advise on the most time- and cost-effective solutions to complete projects from start to finish. I pride myself on rolling up my sleeves and achieving client goals in the most holistic way possible.”

After graduating from California State Polytechnic University Pomona, John launched his career with a locally based healthcare design firm. As an Associate and Studio Director, he managed a team that worked on multiple projects simultaneously. Most recently, as an independent consulting architect, he helped bring a new nursing and science building at Victor Valley Community College to life, helping define the project and serving as a trusted advisor during the design/build team selection process.

Guy Jimenez Promoted to Senior Associate at c|a ARCHITECTS

Guy Jimenez AIA, LEED BD+C, has been promoted to Senior Associate at c|a ARCHITECTS, a leading healthcare architecture, planning and design firm based in Long Beach, Calif. This new title recognizes Guy’s growing leadership role within the firm and continued excellence in the successful planning, design and execution of dozens of large-scale, technologically complex projects throughout Southern California.

“I am pleased and honored to have this opportunity to help grow such a vibrant firm,” says Guy. “We have a versatile and talented team and we look forward to delivering unprecedented levels of exceptional healthcare architecture and design in the months and years ahead.”

Guy is currently leading the expansion of the imaging and oncology center at UCLA Health, as well as a 20,000-sq.-ft. emergency department and lobby expansion at Redlands Community Hospital. This project utilized c|a ARCHITECTS' Lean Design Process, an innovative system, Guy was instrumental in developing at c|a ARCHITECTS. This Lean Process focuses on improving numerous aspects of project management, and equally as important, the process works to improve design for patient and staff flow, efficiencies and the reduction of construction costs – minimizing time and maximizing client value.

During his five years with the firm, Brent has continually advanced c|a ARCHITECTS’ mission to align our architectural and design services with the quickly evolving needs of today’s healthcare leaders.

“Brent’s insightful intelligence and enthusiastic energy have served as game-changers for the way we operate as a firm, and the way we serve our clients,” says David Chartier, AIA, Senior Vice President. “He fully invests himself in the success of our clients, is a master communicator and turns every challenge into an opportunity. This new role further empowers Brent to help lead our firm, and our clients, to an even brighter future.”

Most recently, Brent served as the driving force behind c|a ARCHITECTS’ adoption of Lean, a multi-step thought process that maximizes value while minimizing waste. By carefully considering purpose, process and people through entire value streams –from the way c|a ARCHITECTS operates internally to the way we deliver superior outcomes to our clients—Lean promotes efficiency and optimizes return on investment.
