OUR COMPANY CULTURE

2017
2017 BLOOD DRIVE
As architects, we always feel like we give our blood, sweat and tears to our clients, but this time we literally gave our blood to Cedars-Sinai’s mobile blood donation unit. Thank you to Jennifer Parker, at c|a ARCHITECTS, for taking the initiative to research and organize a successful event. Between the c|a team members and our friends and family participants, we were able to have 25 people participate. Every donation counts and this was a great way to support our community!

2017
2017 HALLOWEEN
Trick or Treat? At c|a ARCHITECTS, Halloween brings out the kid in all of us. There is nothing like an office costume party to spice up building codes, calculations and other project work. And we always enjoy a little competition to add to the festivities. The office votes on best costume, best Halloween-themed food and decorated desk. Congrats to Chuck Trash for his all-in Kiss costume!

2017
2017 CHOC WALK IN THE PARK
Architecture projects can take months or even years to complete, so the c|a team welcomes opportunities like the CHOC Walk in the Park where we can make an immediate impact on families at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). These is nothing like a walk around the Disneyland® Resort to add a little magic to your morning, and there is nothing more magical than seeing the smiling faces as we help raise important funds.

2017
2017 SAVERS FUNDRAISING EVENT
Cleaning, purging and raising funds! By cleaning house and donating everything from clothes and books to small appliances and accessories, c|a ARCHITECTS helped the Savers community donation center while raising funds for the CHOC Walk in the Park. Helping by the pound, our team collected --- to raise money for the children and families of CHOC!

2017
2017 COMPANY PICNIC
The c|a ARCHITECTS annual picnic was all about the beach this year… or rather A Day at the Beach theme. While the theme may change, our families look forward to familiar events such as the balloon tosses and three-legged races. We all love a little competition…but we won’t brag about who won. The food, friends, family and fun make it an enjoyable day. Everyone is looking forward to next year’s festivities.

2017
2017 WALK FOR KIDS
The c|a ARCHITECTS team put on their walking shoes to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California (RMHCSC). The Walk For Kids is a 5K (3.1 Mile) walk that raises funds and promotes services provided by the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House. While we work on a daily basis to improve healthcare environments, it means a lot to our team to support organizations like RMHCSC that provide comfort, care and support to children and families dealing with illness.

2015
2015 COMPANY PICNIC
This year’s picnic brought the c|a ARCHITECTS team and family members together for some carnival-themed fun. From balloon tosses and face painting to raffles and bingo, the activities provided lots of laughter and entertainment. The annual picnic is just one of the ways we celebrate our hard work and supportive families. The smiling faces are a sign of another successful event.

2013
2013 COMPANY PICNIC
The c|a ARCHITECTS annual picnic is a family-focused event, so how appropriate that this year’s theme was Family Fun…and a ton of fun was had by all. Balloon tosses, three-legged races and games galore provided some friendly competition. Raffles, face painting, delicious food and of course great company made it a fun-filled event.

2013
2013 BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Showing that life is not meant to be lived from the bleachers, six members of c|a ARCHITECTS’ took their best shot and joined the Garden Grove basketball league this spring. Impressively armed with the league’s only female member, team “It’s Slow Time” turned a season of fun and fitness into a slam dunk, and shared a few laughs—and victories—along the way.

2012
20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
c|a ARCHITECTS celebrated 20 years of Designing Healthcare with an Anniversary Gala held at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific on Friday, September 21. The event not only paid tribute to our growth from a two-person operation to an industry-leading architectural design firm with 31 team members, but gave a special thanks to our guests, which included clients, consultants and contractors who have all played a pivotal role in our success. Highlights from the evening included engaging sea life exhibits, cocktails and dining, a special slideshow presentation and remarks from our President, Ed Caruana, and dancing to the music of our very own c|a ARCHITECTS band.

2012
2012 LEGO HOLIDAY EVENT
This year, we put our clients’ building skills to the test with LEGO-inspired holiday gifts. We first held an internal contest for the best architectural design using these toy building bricks. A winning design was selected, and unassembled LEGO kits—along with an instruction booklet--were delivered for our client’s holiday building enjoyment. After looking at photos of our talented clients and their finished creations, we wonder if they may be after our jobs.

2012
2012 HOLIDAY PARTY
Another year of architectural success was celebrated in one of the most architecturally significant buildings in Long Beach. This year, La Traviata restaurant in the historic Willmore Building welcomed c|a ARCHITECTS for our annual holiday party. Built in 1924 as a luxury apartment hotel, the Italian Renaissance Revival architectural style set an inspiring backdrop as team members savored neuvo Italian cuisine, raised a toast to the year’s accomplishments and looked ahead to another year of success and opportunity.

2012
2012 COMPANY PICNIC
Members of our team and their families rocked out during this summer’s annual picnic at Monte Verde Park, thanks to our very own c|a ARCHITECTS band. The talent show and entertainment made everyone a star—young and old(er) alike. A festive feast, our traditional pie eating contest and a refreshing ice cream sundae bar topped off the day’s activities.

2011
2011 MS WALK
Taking one step at a time, members of the c|a ARCHITECTS team participated in the 2011 MS Walk event to help create a world free of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Held at UC Irvine, our participation was organized and inspired by one of our project managers, Megan Burnett, who was diagnosed with MS in 2000. Named the “Sole Providers,” the 11-person team joined Megan, as well as her friends and family, in raising more than $3,000 to celebrate hope for the more than 400,000 people currently living with this disease in the U.S.

2011
2011 COMPANY PICNIC
A traditional luau, complete with leis, Hawaiian barbecue and hula dancers, brought a touch of aloha spirit to this summer’s annual picnic at Monte Verde Park. In addition to hula lessons and playing traditional Hawaiian instruments, members of the c|a ARCHITECTS team, along with their families, participated in more traditional events like the pie eating contest and raffle.

2010
2010 SOFTBALL CHALLENGE
Competition is designed to bring out the best in everyone. So when JBA Consulting Engineers, one of our valued consulting partners, challenged c|a ARCHITECTS to a softball game, we were happy to step up to the plate. While the game was close, our worthy opponents scored the winning run for a final score of 16-17. After the game, both teams celebrated the victory with an afternoon barbeque. For the record, we eagerly anticipate improving our record at a future re-match. Batter up!

2010
2010 HOLIDAY PARTY
The c|a ARCHITECTS team celebrated a festive holiday season Italian-style at Michael’s Naples Ristorante on the Rooftop, situated in the magical island neighborhood of Naples. The savory farm-to-fork cuisine, which included sustainable seafood and seasonal produce, was matched only by great conversation among team members while enjoying waterfront views and a rooftop fire pit.

2010
2010 COMPANY PICNIC
It’s summer time…and the livin’ was easy at the c|a ARCHITECTS annual picnic. This year’s event overflowed with fun-filled activities for children of all ages, from the traditional watermelon-eating contest and water balloon toss to the three-legged race and balloon animals. Once again held at Monte Verde Park, a special prize was even awarded for catching (by mouth) the most marshmallows at a single time.

2009
2009 COMPANY PICNIC
Continuing an annual tradition as wholesome as apple pie, the c|a ARCHITECTS' team and their families celebrated summer the old-fashioned way. Held at Monte Verde Park in Lakewood, 2009's fun-filled company picnic included bingo, water games, caricature drawings, face painting and raffles.

2008
2008 HOLIDAY PARTY
It's no coincidence that c|a ARCHITECTS celebrated the winter holidays at Ristorante da Vinci. With a name inspired by one of the most creative and inventive minds in history, this landmark Long Beach restaurant set a positive and vibrant tone as the team looked back at the accomplishments of 2008, and were encouraged to reach even higher in 2009.

2008

2007
2007 HOLIDAY PARTY
Adding a touch of spice to an already festive season, c|a ARCHITECTS celebrated the holidays Spanish-style at Seville, located in the heart of downtown Long Beach. The night heated up with a special performance by flamenco dancers—an energizing spark that helped set the stage for an exciting and productive New Year.

2007
2007 COMPANY PICNIC
From the youngest family members to well, let's just say most the mature members of c|a ARCHITECTS' team, everyone couldn't help but feel like a kid again during this fun-filled annual picnic. Held in the heavily wooded Monte Verde Park in Lakewood, this year's event offered a host of individual and team-building activities, including everything from potato sack races to the company's infamous pie eating contest.

2007
2007 MAMMOTH TRIP
Trading sunny Southern California beaches for snow balls and skis, employees and their families re-discovered everything there is to love about winter during c|a ARCHITECTS' annual getaway to Mammoth Mountain. Like any family, a team that plays together, stays together—a mantra that set a playful (if slightly competitive) tone for a fun-filled weekend of snowball flights, skiing, snowboarding and after-dinner board games.
