Pharmacy Clean Room Upgrade

When stringent code compliance standards dictate the need for facility updates, design solutions can go beyond these standards to improve functionality and comfort that benefit employees and advance the healthcare system. In the case of Mission Hospital’s pharmaceutical compounding area, the facility was expected to comply with new standards that included USP 797 guidelines, SB1953 legislation and NPC-3 classification requirements. c|a ARCHITECTS worked with the hospital to guide them through the complexities of these code compliance standards, while working to produce a pharmacy design that met the need for efficiency and employee satisfaction.

Working within space restrictions and utilizing existing equipment, the team addressed very specific HVAC and filtration requirements as well as dedicated monitoring provisions to log the environment conditions. Furthermore, collaboration with the Unit Director and technicians allowed the team to address specific functionality and comfort details, such as surface heights and electrical receptacle locations, that affect technician job performance and can ultimately impact patient care.
